SKILLS

Social & Emotional Learning.png

Social & Emotional Learning

A fundamental component of learning that helps children understand and process their emotions. Programs that I am comfortable with include Responsive Classroom and Second Step.

National Geographic

National Geographic’s Geo-Inquiry Process is an instructional strategy that helps students develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge, and tools of a geographer. It provides a systematic way to investigate and understand the world through the patterns, processes, and interactions between human and natural systems, take action on issues they identify, and make a difference in their own communities.

Inquiry

The inquiry learning style is when teachers leverage learner's questions and curiosities towards small projects or activities.

Apple + Google Products

I am an Apple Teacher and work with Google daily in a variety of contexts with our community.

Design Thinking.png

Design Thinking

Design thinking (DT) is a process and method used to solve complex problems with a focus on students working with an end user. This method involves a process that consists of five phases: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test.

An important component is empathy and reflecting on how to improve the end product for the other person.

SeeSaw

SeeSaw is an application and program that allows students to record and share their work. In addition, parents and students are allowed to provide feedback as well.

Third Culture Kids:png.png

Third Culture Kids

In an increasingly interconnected global population, an understanding of the obstacles that Third Culture Kids (TCKs) or children who spend a majority of their life outside of their passport country face are important.

HOW CAN I HELP?

Sean Strength Pie Chart.png

These are my results for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) which shows how I interact with the world.

Introversion

People who prefer Introversion tend to focus on
the inner world of ideas and impressions.

Intuition

People who prefer Intuition tend to take in information
from patterns and the big picture and focus on future
possibilities.

Feeling

People who prefer Feeling tend to make decisions
based primarily on values and on subjective
evaluation of person-centered concerns.

Judging

People who prefer Judging tend to like a planned
and organized approach to life and want to have
things settled.

Some touching notes from families I have worked with.

TESTIMONIALS

All of Krishna’s teachers have been a major part of that growth but dare I say none more so than Mr Smith who we feel has been able to really ‘see’ Krishna for who he is - a creative, hilarious, imaginative and engaged global citizen/student - with challenges, of course - but not insurmountable ones.

We think the reason he has blossomed is because Mr Smithi has a flexible and accommodative teaching style - one that takes into account the student and his/her needs, rather than just the curriculum’s pace.

We are also thrilled that Krishna has become more confident and vocal in class, something that I think has come about because he feels safe with Mr Smith and the role model he is for the young man Krishna is becoming.

Mr Smith's combination of affection and a firm you-can-do-it attitude has helped to inspire Krishna and challenge himself so that he keeps reaching for the next level of growth.

Sincerely, Karishma
